Willa couldn’t stop thinking about her conversations with Mark and with Blossom. She went over and over them in her head right up until the minute she was getting ready for her date with Aristaios.

Mark had told her that she looked lovely but he made a point of specifically not asking her out on a date. That was perfectly reasonable; after all, she had told him that she would never go to bed with him, so perhaps he thought she didn’t like him in that way and there was little point in him pursuing her.

But he had asked Blossom out and although both of them had said it wasn’t really a date, Mark had called it a ‘sort of’ date, so had he now decided that it was Blossom he wanted to spend time with and not her? And why did it bother her so much anyway? She liked him, she’d admit that but she knew it wouldn’t go anywhere, so why did it matter?

‘No’, she said out loud as she slipped into a v-necked, cotton dress in a blue and white floral print design with a fitted bodice and a flared skirt. ‘I am going to stop thinking of Mark Thornton in a romantic way and concentrate on having a good time with Aristaios and Harry. Blossom is right,’ she continued, studying her reflection in the mirror. ‘You need to have some fun and see if you can get Aristaios to discuss a new deal for next season and, Harry to elaborate on his suggestions for an ad campaign on social media sites.’ She smoothed down the front of her dress and did a half twirl to check the back.

‘Yes, oh Queen, you are the fairest of them all,’ Blossom squeaked from the doorway of Willa’s room.

Willa spun around in surprise. ‘Very funny,’ she said. ‘I don’t suppose there’s any wine open is there? I could murder a drink before I go. I don’t know why but I’m feeling really nervous.’

‘Well, it just so happens that there is,’ Blossom said. ‘I’m feeling really fed up, so I thought I’d have a drink.’ She held up the bottle and the two glasses she was holding.

‘Some day, you’ll make one lucky man very happy,’ Willa said. ‘Are you really feeling fed up? That’s not like you. I can cancel this date and stay here and chat if you like.’

‘No! I’ll be fine. And what are you talking about? I make men very happy every day. Haven’t you seen them ogling my boobs in my Pilates class? I swear that’s why so many of them stumble about all over the place. They’re too busy staring at my boobs or my bum and not paying enough attention to what they’re doing.’

Willa chuckled, remembering that first day when she and Aristaios had sat and watched the morning session. Harry had fallen all over the place and so had some of the others, now that she thought about it. But not Mark, although Suki Thane had thrown herself at him more times than Willa had thought possible.
